Cake Decorating Tools -The Ball Tool

The Mason Cash Ball Tool has been designed to aid in the cupping and shaping of leaves, petals and frills when decorating intricate cakes.

What is a Ball Tool?

The Mason Cash Ball Tool is a cake decorating tool which has a different sized ball at each end. The larger ball can be used to cup and shape leaves, petals and frills giving them a 3D feel. The smaller ball is ideal for creating small details on model figures such as eye and nose sockets, hand and ears.

What material can it be used on?

Ideal for use with a wide range of edible and non edible materials including:

  • Sugarpaste (rolled fondant icing)
  • Petal paste (gum paste)
  • Marzipan
  • Craft clays

How do I use the ball tool for cake decorating?

  • Roll out your paste onto a non-stick surface, using cornflour/icing sugar for dusting.
  • Cut out the desired shape from your paste and place it onto a foam pad.
  • Use the larger ball to smooth and shape the paste until the desired look is achieved. Use the smaller ball tool to press indents into the paste to create eye sockets or patterns.
  • Note: Tools used with food products should be kept separate from those used with non-food materials e.g. craft clay.
  • Wash before first use, rinse and dry thoroughly.
