Churros

This Spanish-style fried dough is easy to make and makes a great party dessert. Enjoy with a warm chocolate sauce.
Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- For dough:
- 250ml water
- 110g unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 125g all purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- vegetable oil to fry in
- For coating:
- 100g caster sugar
- 1-2 tbsp cinnamon
Method
- Add 250ml of water, 110g of butter and 2 tbsp of sugar to a large pan and bring to a boil.
- Next, add 125g of all-purpose flour to the mixture and mix until you form a dough. You shouldn't see any dry bits of flour by this point.
- Remove the pan from the heat and pour the dough into a large, clean bowl. Let the dough cool for a few minutes. Once cooled, add a total of 3 eggs - mix well in between adding each egg. Mix until a smooth dough is formed.
- Transfer the dough into a piping bag and start to prepare the cinnamon sugar before frying. Mix together the 100g of sugar and 1-2 tbsp of cinnamon on a plate or in a bowl.
- Fill up a large, deep frying pan with vegetable oil about one-third full and turn up to medium heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, dip a wooden spoon in the oil and if it starts fizzing, your oil is ready.
- Carefully begin piping long strips of dough into the oil, using scissors to cut the dough. Once they've turned golden, take them out and coat them in the cinnamon sugar.
- Serve with chocolate sauce and enjoy.
