
Steamed Chocolate Pudding


Rich and velvety, this steamed chocolate pudding recipe is easy to prepare and steam to perfection. For a decadent accompaniment, we’ve also included how to make a chocolate sauce to swirl over the top of a chocolate pudding.

Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 175g all purpose flour / maida
- 175g sugar
- 175g unsalted softened butter
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 3 eggs
- 60ml yoghurt/curd
- 2½ tsp baking powder
- 50g cocoa powder
- For the hot chocolate sauce:
- 125ml cream
- 125g chocolate chips
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Method
- Take a heat safe glass bowl or pudding bowl. Line the bottom with a circle of parchment paper and grease it well with oil or butter. Set aside.
- Take butter, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl and whisk well. Add eggs and whisk till creamy. Add in yoghurt and mix well.
- Add in all purpose flour, cocoa, baking soda and powder and fold gently. Spoon this into a prepared pan.
- Take a parchment paper and grease it with oil or butter. Place it over the pudding bowl and place a sheet of foil over it and press it well. Now seal with an elastic band.
- Now take a large pot, fill with water ½ way, place a plate in the bottom. Place the bowl on top and cover with a lid. Bring it to a boil and simmer for 1 hour and 30 mins.
- Now insert a toothpick to check whether the pudding is done. Now remove it from the pot and cool for 5 mins. Run a knife around the edges. Invert it over a plate.
- For the hot chocolate sauce. Take golden syrup, cream, vanilla and chocolate chips in a saucepan and heat it gently so it melts.
- Now cool it down and serve with your pudding.
